| Congratulations for the successful event. I've just returned safely to PJ and would like to thank the GT Committee for the fantastic job done. Both my navigator and I had a great time. Keep up the good work. Meanwhile, I will spend the year recruiting more classic participants for the next year's. |

The organisation for the night slalom and sprint was so much better this year, the accomadation and food , esp in Ipoh was 1st class, but the best part of course was the event itself. This was a 5 star event in terms of the fun factor, the route chosen, the special stages and even the wrongly marked tulips addwed to the fun n excitement.
I had so much fun and also never really expected to win again..so this made it even better.
Three cheers to the organising committee ..hurrah! hurrah !hurrah!
Cheers |

This year's GT was excellent. Thanks to all the committee members for organising this great event once again.
Congratulations to P1, P2 and P3 winners, especially Doc Wong who managed to retain his title and the trophy for another year.
I feel that this year's GT is a little more stressful than last year's. Last year I could cruise at about the speed limit for certain stages and still could be in time to reach the checkpoints, but this year I had to speed quite a lot, but still was late to reach the checkpoints. Maybe slowed too much at some places? _________________

The reverse is true for me . Last year I was speeding at the limit most of the time as we got lost more often.
This year I was actually cruising at the legal speed limit and even lower at times.
That's why so many cars overtook me that it took a strong will power to discipline myself and stay focussed on the time management.

It was a great tour. Bertone, the most memorable moments for me are :
1. The car losing its tail on the first stage from KL to Kuala Kangsar. Great job you caught the tail back.
2. Letting that 168 Super have a piece of your engine note every time you drive past.
Well done to everyone. Will start doing up the Alfasud for next year GT. Anyone has a big weber to sell? _________________ Kookaburra Racing Team

Congratulation to Doc Wong (P1), Desmond (P2) and Ron Nathan (P3) for winning the GT titles for this year.
Now you guys have proven to the others that driving too fast is not what it is to win a GT. It is all about teamwork (Driver & Navigator). Navigator must know what he/she is doing i.e. managing time & distance for the driver. You don't need a fast car, you need a car that is reliable that can take you throughout the distance.
The Organising Committee was happy indeed that there are non major mishaps.
Othman Zainal the ED for the GT2005, will be publishing the top 10 GT drivers, the Slalom and Spint timings within the next 2 weeks.
Once again thanks for all the support and hopefully next year's GT would be even better.
Cheers... |

Here is a screen capture from Google Earth of the section from Kuala Kangsar-Grik road. The road is clearly distinguishable from the settlements along it. The special stage is further north of the map. _________________ Kookaburra Racing Team

Somewhere here is where Bertone had his tyre shredded, and where we contributed RM350 to the local economy _________________ Kookaburra Racing Team

Nice pics Navigator. We shall use this for next year ya?
We had a high speed tyre shreading indicent on the 2nd day near Padang Besar just a few KMs before the sugar plantation. A 5" blade (see picture) took out my tyres near Padang Besar. I must thank the kind souls who stopped to help us out.
We exited the corner and was accelerating the hell out of the car and suddenly the car twitched and rumbled and we pulled over to examine the rear passender side tyre only to find the entire side wall cutted out. Luckily luck was on our side as there was a tyre shop just a few KMs down.
My trusty navigator spotted it by chance as the shop didn't even have a signboard. Just a few tyres outside a dimly lit shop and his eagle eyes spotted it. They didn't have my odd sized 195/60/14 so I had to use some Sime 185 HR 14" tyres for Proton Sagas hence limiting the action *sigh* but it enabled us to continue the journey safely more importantly. |

Walau yeh...it did not look so bad on ur phone camera.
I thot only a superficial layer was peeled off, NOT a whole side ripped out..
What's more important is that both of you are safe and the car not damaged .. |
